What Is Covered
- Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship for doors, panels, or hardware.
- Products that fail under normal, intended use within the 2-year period.
What Is Not Covered (Exclusions)
1. Natural Wood Movement and Warp
- Wood is a natural material and may expand, contract, or warp due to changes in humidity, temperature, or moisture.
- Allowable Warp (Not Covered):
Doors up to 6’8″ tall and 36″ wide: warp up to ¼” (6 mm) in any plane is normal.
Doors taller than 6’8″, up to 8′ tall and 42″ wide: warp up to ½” (12 mm) is normal.
Doors larger than these dimensions: warp is not warranted. - Industry Reference: The Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) allows warp up to 0.25–0.5% of door height as acceptable. For an 8′ (96″) door, ½” warp is considered normal.
2. Surface Checks, Cracks, and Knots
- Minor surface cracks, splits, or knots are natural characteristics of solid wood.
- Not Covered:
Cracks less than 1/8″ (3 mm) wide and less than 2″ (50 mm) long.
Knots that may shrink, crack, or discolor over time. - Reference: Solid wood can shrink 1–3% tangentially; small checks and knot changes are expected.
3. Finish and Appearance Issues
- Variations in wood color, grain pattern, or finish are normal.
- Not Covered:
Fading or discoloration of stain/paint due to UV light or age.
Minor scratches, dents, or surface imperfections from handling. - Industry Insight: Premium prefinished doors can show 10–15% variation in color or sheen due to wood species and stain absorption.
4. Damage from Improper Use or External Factors
- Dessliy does not cover damage from:
Misuse, abuse, accidents, or mishandling
Fire, flood, earthquake, hurricane, storm, tornado, or other natural disasters
Overloading hardware beyond its intended purpose
5. Modifications or Unauthorized Alterations
- Alterations without Dessliy authorization void the warranty.
- Examples:
Reducing door height by more than 1″ (25 mm) from bottom rail or ½″ (12 mm) from top rail
Reducing width by more than ½″ (12 mm) from either side
Drilling, cutting, or refinishing the door in a way that affects structure or performance
6. Improper Installation or Maintenance
- Damage due to incorrect installation or failure to follow recommended maintenance is not covered.
- Hardware exceptions: Over-tightening, improper alignment, or lack of periodic lubrication leading to malfunction is excluded.
